Switzerland wins Cameroon at the start of the World Cup campaign

Switzerland’s first football team opened its campaign in the 2022 World Cup, which is currently underway in Qatar, with a precious 1-0 victory over Cameroon, Thursday, in the first round of Group VII matches of the group stage of the competition.
The Cameroon national team failed to seize the easy opportunities it had during the first half, during which it imposed absolute control in most of the periods, only to be punished in the second half by the Swiss national team, whose players’ experience settled matters in their favor in the end.
Cameroonian-born Brill Embolo played the starring role in the match, after scoring Switzerland’s only goal in the 48th minute, after which he refused to celebrate scoring his country of origin.
Thus, the Swiss national team, which is participating in the World Cup for the twelfth time in its history, won the first three points in the group, which also includes Brazil and Serbia.
On the other hand, the Cameroonian national team, which records its eighth appearance in the World Cup as the most participating African team in the great football forum, remained without points.
Cameroon will meet its Serbian counterpart, on Monday, in the next round, which will witness a fiery confrontation between the Swiss team and Brazil, on the same day.
