Ecuador awaits Valencia’s examinations | sports newspaper

Ecuador is eagerly awaiting the results of more tests that Enner Valencia, its veteran striker, underwent, before deciding whether or not to participate in the face of the Netherlands, on Friday, in the second round of Group A competitions in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Valencia, 33, scored the most prominent Ecuadorian player in his country’s national team’s 2-0 victory over Qatar, the hosts, in the opening match last Sunday, but he left with a sprained knee before the end of the match.
Ecuadorian coach Gustavo Alfaro said, “The tests prove that he is not injured, but the effect is very serious, and we will have to assess his condition this afternoon and make a decision.”
And he continued, “I said that nothing stops Enner. If we leave it to him, he will play. Let’s think positively and hope that he responds well during today’s afternoon training.”
Alvaro added that Ecuador is not under pressure given the Netherlands’ higher ranking and their presumed superiority accordingly. “We have everything to win and nothing to lose,” the coach said.
He concluded, “We have to be strong on all fronts, emotionally and physically, and we have to exhaust them around the field. What we did against Qatar will not be enough against the Netherlands and Senegal. We have to improve.”
