Haaland’s “hat-trick” takes City to the Cup semi-finals
The young Norwegian sniper, Erling Haaland, scored three “hat-trick” goals to lead his team, Manchester City, to sweep its guest, Burnley, 6-0, on Saturday, in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Halland’s three goals came just four days after he scored five “mega hat-trick” goals, during City’s landslide victory over Leipzig, Germany, 7-1, in the second leg of the Champions League round of sixteen.
Haaland scored his three goals in the 32nd, 35th and 59th minutes, and Julian Alvarez ensured that the fourth and sixth goals were scored in the 62nd and 73rd minutes, and the fifth goal came by Cole Palmer in the 68th minute, leading City to reach the golden square of the championship.
Haaland scored goal No. 41 this season during his 37th match with Manchester City at the level of all competitions, with 28 goals in 26 Premier League matches, ten goals topping the Champions League scorers list, and three goals in the FA Cup.
Haaland won the hat-trick for the sixth time in his first season with Manchester City.
There are only three players who have scored more goals in one season, and they are the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 42 goals with Manchester United in the 2007-2008 season, and the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, who scored 44 goals with
Liverpool in the 2017-2018 season and the Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, who scored 44 goals with Manchester United in the 2002-2003 season.
